Day 01: Addis+ Arrive Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your guide and drive about 15 minutes to your hotel. Have sightseeing in Addis which includes visiting the
· National Archeological Museum of Addis Ababa; where the fossil remains of the oldest hominid – Lucy (3.25 mil years old) is sheltered at,
· Merkato – the largest open-air market in Africa, and finally drive to Mt. Entoto (3,200 meters) to have a panoramic view of Addis. Overnight: hotel
Day 02: Fly from Addis Ababa – Gondar
After arrival & check in to your hotel, Visit the 17th-century castles’ the compound, registered by UNESCO as a world heritage for the presence of those castles in such immense number and their architectural significance; Debre-Berhan Selesie Church highly decorated with mural paintings of portraits of angles and another biblical history Overnight: hotel (3* hotel) (B, L, D)
Day 03: excursion drive to Semien Mountain National park After early breakfast drive to Simen Mountains constitute one of the massifs of Ethiopia that include several peaks above 4000 meters high in altitude. Ras Dashen Mountain the highest in Ethiopia and the 4th highest in Africa is located here in this massif. This mountainous area physio graphically is the result of the tertiary period of Cenozoic era volcanic eruptions lava outpouring. This park is established in 1975 and registered as world heritage in 1978 by UNESCO for its superlative natural phenomena, exceptional natural beauty, and aesthetic importance. It contains the most important and significant natural habitat for in-situ conservation of biological diversity including those threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science and conservation. En-route visits the weekly market of Debrak town which is the junction Town of Semien Mountain. Overnight: hotel (3* hotel) (B, L, D)
Day 04: Fly Gonder- Lalibela. The former Roha the present Lalibelatown assumed political importance as Aksumite Empire declined and ended its importance as a major political center after 1270 A.D. After check in to Roha hotel, visit the first group of the magnificent rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, which are carved out of living volcanic tuff with super architectural skill that the world has never seen yet, elsewhere. These churches are registered as world heritage by UNESCO. Among churches of this group, Bete Medahine Alem (house of the redeemer) is the largest with 5 aisles, 72 pillars, vaulted dome, and molding decoration. Bete Mariam (house of st. Marry) is the most decorated among the rock-hewn churches. After lunch, visit the second group of the rock-hewn churches; Bete Emanuel (house of Emanuel) is architecturally the finest. Bete Giorgis (the house of George) is the finest of all the churches in Lalibela. Overnight: Hotel (3* hotel) (B, L, D)
Day 05: Fly from Lalibela to Addis Ababa and drive to Awash N/P - 220KM
Fly to Addis Ababa and after arrival, you will be meet by your drivers to drive you to Awash National park, 220km to the east. Stop at Lake Beseka where birds like; Storks, Egrets, Vultures, Towny eagles, etc can be seen. We will take lunch at the awash town. O/n Hotel, Meal All
Day 06: Birding at Awash Park Full day birding in the park including a trip to the Filweha (hot spring). We will see birds like Abyssinian roller, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Wire-tailed swallow, Buff crested Bustard, Dark chanting Goshawk, pygmy falcon, Honeyguide, Woodland Kingfisher, Kori bustard, Black-shouldered Kite, White-Crowned and Helmet shrikes, Swallow-tailed Kite, Rosy patch shrike, Carmine Bee-eater, Orange-billed parrot, Lilac-breasted roller, Lappet-faced, and Ruppell’s Vultures, Helmeted guinea fowl, Yellow-billed hornbill, etc. We will also see a variety of different mammals, including Greater and Lesser Kudu, Warthog, Black-backed jackal, Grivet monkey, Anubis. O/N Hotel, Meal All
Day 07: Drive to Lake Langano
Leave for the Lakes Region, we will stop for birding along the main at Koka Dam, Awash River and then at Lake Ziway, where, Village weavers, Marabou stork, Yellow-billed Storks, Collared Pratincoles, Lesser jacanas, African jacanas, Cattle egret, African Fish Eagle, Crowned and Common Cranes are some of the species to be seen here in large numbers. We leave Ziway after lunch and continue to Lake Langano for an overnight stay in the Saban Resort Hotel Situated on the Shores of the Lake.
Day 08: Excursion to Lake Abijata - Shalla
We drive to Abijata-Shalla lakes National park; we first go to lake Shalla the deepest of all the Ethiopian Rift valley lakes. This lake is the breeding ground of birds since it has islands. Then drive to Lake Abyata the feeding ground of birds since it is rich in aquatic life and where one can see lesser and greater Flamingos in abundance, Africa Pochard Avocet, Gull-billed Tern and Pintail ruff, Greater white pelican, and a variety of ducks are among other species to be seen. Then, we leave to Lake Awassa and check into the Wabi- Shebelle hotel. Lake Awassa is rich in birdlife; endemic Black-Winged Lovebirds, Bruce’s Green Pigeon, Bare-Faced Go away birds, Greater cormorants, Storks, Ducks are some of the species to be seen. O/N Resort / Hotel.
Day 09: Awassa (The Regional Capital of the South Nation and Nationality Peoples)
Full day birding on the shores of Lake Awassa. In the morning drive to Amora-Ghedel, the fish market where abundant birds can be seen and walk in the public park compound for more bird watching. After lunch and some rest boat trip to Tikur wuha, the place where hippos and Columbus monkeys and some more of birds can be seen O/N Haile Resort Hotel, Meal All
Day 10: Drive to Wendo Genet
after breakfast drive to Wondo-Genet about 37 km to the east of Awassa. Wondo- Genet one of the strongholds of forests in the country and where a Field Gene The bank is established has therapeutic hot mineral springs and naturally heated swimming pool in a lush, forested mountain setting. After lunch, we will climb through the captivating juniper forest where the endemic Yellow-fronted parrot, the Black-headed Forest Oriole, and the Abyssinian Golden-backed Wood-pecker can be seen, along with the Red-winged starling, Grosbeak Weaver, mounting wagtail, etc. O/N Resort / Hotel.
Day 11: Drive to the Bale Mountains
Leave Wondo- Genet for the Bale Mountains National park. Stop at Dinsho the headquarter of the Park for game viewing. Some endemic mammals like the mountain Nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck and non-endemics like warthog; Reedbuck, Common jackal, etc will be seen. In the BMNP we expect to see the following endemic birds: the Spot-breasted plover, Roget’s rail, Abyssinian catbird, Black-headed siskin, Blue-winged Goose, Wattled ibis, White-collared pigeon, and Black-winged love bird and Other no-endemic birds can also be seen. O/N Hotel.
Day 12: Senate plateau
After breakfast drive with lunch box to the amazing Afro-Alpine setting of the senate plateau, home to the endemic Ethiopian Wolf and Giant mole-rat, and among the birds the beautiful spot- breasted plover, Blue-winged Goose, Wattled ibis, Harwood francolin, Lammergeier, Auger buzzard, etc. We should also be able to see the rare Wattled crane. On the way, we will probably Klipspringer. Return to Goba late in the afternoon. O/n Hotel, Meal All
Day 13: After breakfast drive to Harenna with a lunch box, full day birding there. O/N Hotel.
Day 14: Return to Addis Ababa and departure
after breakfast drive to Addis Ababa and after arrival you will be free for shopping and in the evening before departure you will be the guest of ETHIO USA TOURS at one of the traditional restaurant where you will have Injera with our traditional cousin and you will be depart.
